TURNERS FALLS, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The Franklin Tech softball team took an early lead and later rallied from a deficit to beat the Turners Falls Thunder on their Senior Night, 10-6 in Franklin County League play on Tuesday night.

The Eagles took a quick 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning, highlighted by a two-run single by Charly Knight, only to see the Thunder tie it at 3 in the bottom half of the inning. Abby Moffatt’s two-out, two-run single tied the score at 3.

After Franklin Tech went back up 4-3 in the second inning on a leadoff home run by Lindsey Taylor, Turners Falls once again drew even at 4-4 in the bottom of the frame.

The Thunder scored two runs in the third to take a 6-4 lead, but Franklin Tech starting pitcher Brayleigh Burgh shut them down the rest of the way.

The Eagles took control of the contest with a four-run outburst in the fifth, keyed by a bases-clearing three-run triple by Taylor, who had three hits, four runs batted in, and three runs scored on the night.

Franklin Tech upped its record to 5-11, while Turners Falls fell to 6-10.

The pregame Senior Night festivities honored Turners Falls seniors Maddie Dietz and Janelle Massey. The senior players from Franklin Tech were also acknowledged by the Turners Falls team.
