WEST SPRINGFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The Frontier girls basketball team now stands just one win away from a state championship. The Redhawks defeated Millbury Wednesday night in the MIAA Division 4 Semifinals, 43-28, and will play South Hadley for the title Saturday at Noon at UMass-Lowell.

Frontier controlled play from the start, jumping out to a quick 10-0 lead, and used a suffocating defense to win wire-to-wire.

The state championship game will be the third matchup of the season between Frontier and South Hadley. The Redhawks defeated the Tigers in South Hadley on January 27, 67-62. The Tigers exacted a measure of revenge in the WMass tournament, with a 62-60 win in South Deerfield on February 13.

Saturday’s showdown begins at Noon at Tsongas Arena at UMass-Lowell. The game will be broadcast live on Bear Country 95.3 and streamed live at bear953.com.
